UFC superstar Jorge Masvidal has explained his ongoing beef with Jake Paul and also revealed what it would take for him to step into the ring with the YouTuber-turned boxer.

The duo trained together ahead of Paul's fight with Ben Askren in 2021 but things turned sour when he was booked to take on former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley in his fourth professional fight.

"Jake got upset when they asked me about Woodley," he told Paul's brother, Logan on the Impaulsive podcast.

"You know, Woodley is my brother, man. Of course, I'm going to go for my brother Woodley all the time and since then we've had our back and forth," Masvidal added.

Masvidal has recently signed a new UFC deal but says he'd be up for fighting Paul if the money was right. The 37-year-old thinks he could become the first man to beat Paul given his extensive background in striking.

"I love money. I stated that earlier. If it made me money, like a ton of it, why the f*** not?

"No matter what, I feel like the chips are stacked on my side because he just got into this like however long he's been doing it, five or six years ago and I've been doing it since I was a kid.

"So even though it's not what I have my f****** PhD in, it's still a form of combat that I have way more time than him doing and way more doing so of course I feel like man the chips are on my side. Big money and I and I would bet on myself that I win that fight."

Masvidal, who was ringside to see the former Disney actor overcome adversity to spectacularly stop Woodley in his last fight, admits that he has been impressed by Paul.

"His last fight I was there live. The best thing that I saw from him is that he got cracked numerous times in his last fight and I think he even suffered a little headbutt," Masvidal said.

"I saw his face in that round where he was like holy s***. It's a f***ing real fight. Eventually, he came back, and he started fighting harder and better.

"That's the best thing I've seen about him so far as he that he actually had real adversity. Woodley caught him with two good shots, and he kept his composure and fought through, so I definitely think he's improved but Woodley is also a fighter that's very good for him to fight."

Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal did not embrace or make up after the fight and the bad blood has continued

Masvidal is coming off a loss to Colby Covington at UFC 272 and it's currently unclear what's next for him as he has recently fallen foul of the law.

'Gamebred' allegedly decided to take his beef with Covington to the streets of Miami post-fight, delivering several sucker punches to 'Chaos' that caused a fractured tooth and led to Masvidal being arrested and charged with aggravated battery.

Paul is set to return to the ring in August and he is currently looking for his sixth opponent. The undefeated prospect is expected to take a serious step up in opposition but has recently dialled in on Michael Bisping, who has never competed in professional boxing, has one eye, and has been retired from MMA since 2017.
